Cutie is mostly an indoor dog. Alice is mostly an outdoor cat. Occasionally they are either both inside or outside. Alice has become quite curious about Cutie, but Cutie always just walks away (after a couple of scary hissing incidents when she tried to approach Alice).

Furry Friends
I wasn't sure if it would happen, but it did.
Today, Alice came in and laid right next to Cutie on Cutie's bed. Alice instantly started purring. Cutie started a low, rumbling growl. I guess maybe she thought Alice was growling at her! I "explained" the situation to Cutie and they've been fine ever since. At one point, Alice was even laying across Cutie's legs. How sweet...

So cute! Alice looks like a big cat. All three of our cats do that to our older dog too, there is always one of them sleeping near him. No one wants to sleep near the puppy yet unfortunately. Maybe someday :-)
ReplyDeleteCutie weighs about 75 lbs. Alice weighs about 14 lbs. I'm not sure if that's big for a cat (she's my first), but she looks a little fat in the belly when she's sitting or laying down. When she's walking, she looks slim. I don't feed her too much, but I think she's supplementing her food intake in the great outdoors!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure once your puppy isn't quite so "puppy-ish" they'll warm up to each other. Cutie is still pretty cautious about the close contact. But they seem to be warming up to each other.
Great post, I love the idea that Cutie may have thought purring was a growl!
